Flotsam is the newsletter of AUUC. It’s a sporadic publication that documents club trips, events, social life, marine life and general tomfoolery. The club newsletter was started by Dr Garry Tee in 1970. Five issues were produced in that year. Some time between 1972 and 1974 the newsletter was called Flotsam and has been published under that banner since.
The scanning of club copies of Flotsam is almost complete. It took Kathryn and Ali (thanks both Kathryn and Ali!) a solid 10 hours at university to scan, download, check and upload all of the issues listed below. We knew it was going to be a massive job and that’s why we’d put it off for so long. 🙂
In some instances, the below scans are not perfect. In others, the original document was in a poor state and we did the best we could. If you are trying to research something and are finding it unreadable, don’t hesitate to contact us, we may be able to decipher the original document for you. If you happen to have any copies of Flotsam that are not listed below, please contact us as we would love to get copies from you to add to our site.
Download and read to your heart’s content! The old copies of Flotsam are bound to stir up wonderful memories for former members and for current club members, they’re a summary of the evolution of our club… good times! If you’re a former club member taking a look, please sign up in the right column for our 50th Anniversary updates as AUUC plans for celebrations in 2011.
