AUUC Code of Conduct
At AUUC, we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all members. By participating in AUUC events and activities, members agree to uphold the following standards:
1. Respect for Others:
-
Treat fellow members, trip leaders, and external partners with kindness, courtesy, and respect.

Avoid behaviour or language that is harmful or discriminatory.
2. Safety First:
-
Follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided by trip leaders and skippers.
-
Use gear responsibly and ensure proper maintenance of personal equipment.

Divers have a duty and responsibility to be familiar with and abide by Standard Safe Diving Practice
-
Individual divers and their buddy must dive within their experience and or their qualifications.
3. Environmental Responsibility:

Respect marine life and ecosystems. Avoid touching or disturbing underwater habitats unnecessarily.

For fishing based activities, it is the participants responsibility to know and uphold the relevant rules for the area that they partake in e.g. marine reserves, rahui zones, catch size and limits.

Dispose of waste responsibly and support sustainability efforts during trips and events.
4. Integrity and Sportsmanship:

Act honestly and honourably in all interactions.

Avoid behaviour that disrupts the positive and inclusive culture of the club.
5. Club Values:
-
Strive to embody the club's values of inclusion, respect, and community.
-
Represent AUUC positively in all activities, both on and off the water.
6. SCUBA Gear Hire and Use:
-
Handle all club gear with care and respect.
-
Do not intentionally damage or misuse equipment.
-
Inspect gear upon receiving it and report any issues to club organizers immediately.
-
Report damage at the earliest possible moment to the gear officer and when returning the gear.
-
Return all gear in a clean and functional condition at the agreed time.
-
Members may be held accountable for repair or replacement costs in cases of negligence or intentional damage.
7. Assistance with Cleaning and Packing:

At the end of each trip with involving the club boat, all members are required to assist with:
-
Cleaning all gear used during the trip.
-
Cleaning the club boat itself.
-
Packing away and organizing equipment in its designated place.
-

This ensures the safety, longevity, and readiness of gear and the boat for future use.
8. Adherence to Club Policies:

Comply with all club rules, including the Refund Policy and Trip Guidelines.

Respect the authority of trip leaders and club organizers.
9. Accountability:
-
If a member's behaviour is inconsistent with this Code of Conduct, AUUC reserves the right to address the situation, including removal from trips or events as per club policies.
10. Marketing:
-
By joining AUUC, you consent to having any photos, videos, or other media featuring your participation shared and marketed on our social media platforms, unless you notify us directly in writing to request exclusion.
Violation of the Code of Conduct
If a committee member or skipper of AUUC determines that a member has violated the code of conduct, the member shall be subject to a temporary ban from AUUC events. Should the member continue to violate the code of conduct following the temporary ban, a meeting of the AUUC committee will be convened to determine whether the member should be removed from the club. Notice of a temporary ban or removal from the club will be issued by the club president through an appropriate communication channel. The member may appeal this decision in accordance with Section 4 of the AUUC Constitution.
